AFTER HOURS SHERIDAN DESIGN WEEK SPRING 2021 Year 2
Roles: Level Design, Additional Art
Sheridan Design Week is a week long game jam that is run once every semester, with various themes each time. Game design students across years 1-3 are grouped together to foster teamwork skills and to mentor new designers. For spring 2021, we were challenged to create a game with a focus on evoking specific human emotions through gameplay. My group chose Fear and Mystery. Within four days, we designed and showcased a small 2D platforming horror game using Unity. The team used Discord to communicate quickly and effectively, Miro boards to brainstorm, Git for version control, and Google Docs for documentation. Us upper years learned a lot about team management and pipeline control, being the ones to helm the project and keep everyone on the same page.
This was my third experience with an all remote game jam, the others being the previous semester's Design Week and TOJam 2020.
