KINGYO MATSURI GAME DESIGN PRACTICE (GAME21468) Year 2
Roles: Art, UI Design
In our Game Design Practice course, we were given a full semester to plan and develop a vertical slice game demo and pitch it to our professor as if he were an investor. We decided to create a simple arcade style fishing game inspired by Kingyo Sukui, a popular Japanese festival goldfish scooping game. In a team of five, I was responsible for art and UI design. I created the fish and UI assets, UI layout, as well as the fever mode overlay. We planned and created Kingyo Matsuri using agile design framework, working through multiple sprints tracked via JIRA and evaluating our project at set milestones.
This was our first ever use of somewhat long term agile development, and we learned a lot about project management as we worked through the semester. We hit some snags along the way, and scope was adjusted to accommodate for our increasing course loads in other classes, but all in all we were very proud to have finished a game that we could be proud of.
